EVS in UKG is not about memorising facts. It is about helping five-year-olds notice the world around them: their own body, the food on their plate, the animals in the street, the bus they ride and the rain outside the window. Good ukg evs worksheets turn that curiosity into short, picture-based tasks that children can answer by circling, matching and ticking.

How to teach UKG EVS at home
- Go outside first. A ten-minute walk teaches more about plants, animals and transport than any page. Count buses, spot birds, touch leaves.
- Use the kitchen. Sort vegetables and fruits; ask which foods come from animals.
- Talk in full sentences. Ask “What does a cow give us?” and encourage “A cow gives us milk.”
- Keep worksheets short. One page a day, about 5 minutes, is enough for most five-year-olds.
- Read aloud. Most UKG children cannot read the questions yet. Read them out and let your child answer by pointing, circling or saying.

Frequently asked questions
What topics are covered in UKG EVS?
Common UKG EVS topics are my body, sense organs, good habits, my family, my home, food, plants, animals and their homes, transport, community helpers, seasons, water and our country. The exact list and order vary from school to school.
What is the difference between Term 1 and Term 2 UKG EVS?
Many schools teach topics about the child, such as body, senses, habits, family and food, in Term 1. Term 2 usually moves outward to plants, animals, transport, helpers, seasons and India. Check your school calendar for the exact split.
How do I teach sense organs to a UKG child?
Use real objects. Let your child smell a flower, taste a little lemon, listen to a bell, touch ice and look at a picture book. After each one, ask which body part helped. Then try a simple matching worksheet.
Is EVS taught as a separate subject in UKG?
In many schools, EVS is taught as a short subject or as part of general awareness or GK periods in UKG. Some schools use a combined EVS and GK book. Either way, the topics are similar.
How long should a UKG child spend on EVS worksheets?
About 5 minutes a day, or one page, is enough. Young children learn EVS best through talking, walks and hands-on activities, with a short worksheet to check understanding.
